This Bitcoin miner was pretty good for its time and WIRED quickly put it to use. In only 10 days WIRED was able to earn 2 Bitcoin, but they realized there was a problem. If they made money from the Bitcoin miner then it could affect the way they report on both Bitcoin and the Bitcoin miner. So, they ultimately decided to lose the key to their Bitcoin locking it away for eternity. They eventually ended up earning a total of 13 Bitcoin, which today would be worth well over $400,000.
